While every day’s clinical schedule varies from the next, patients can expect a general daily format. Each morning, patients are woken up at 7:00 AM, but have the ability to wake up earlier if they so choose. During this time, it is expected for each patient to be showered, dressed, and ready for the day. The first roll call is taken at 7:45 AM and breakfast is served at 8:00 AM. It is also during this time that rooms are cleaned, beds are made, and room inspection takes place.
At 9:30 AM, the commencement of clinical lectures and/or groups will take place. There are two clinical groups/lectures in the morning and two in the afternoon. Patients will be allotted time for bathroom and smokes breaks between each group. At 11:45 AM, roll call is taken and lunch is served. After lunch, the patient community has 45 minutes of free time. During this time, patients have the ability to return to their rooms to relax and refresh for a few minutes prior to the afternoon groups.
At 1:00 PM the afternoon clinical schedule with commence. Again, patients will be allotted specific time for bathroom and smoke breaks. At 3:30 PM, after the daytime clinical schedule is complete, the recreational period will begin. At this time, the campus store will open, where candy, cigarettes, clothing, toiletries, greeting cards, etc. can be purchased. Furthermore, it is during recreation that the patient community may utilize the basketball court, walking track, footballs, Frisbees, exercise equipment, board games, etc.
At 4:45 PM, roll call is taken and dinner is served promptly at 5:00 PM. After dinner, patients are permitted to make phone calls to family and friends in between groups until 10:00 PM. Patients are permitted back to their bedrooms for 15 minutes, to freshen up and/or get anything they may need for the night, i.e. jackets, books, cigarettes, etc.
At 6:00 PM, the night time clinical schedule will commence. In the evening, specialty groups will take place, such as alumni meetings, gender groups, life stories, etc. It is also during this time that specific community members will have the ability to attend outside 12-step meetings and in-house meetings are scheduled. Patients will be allotted specific time in between meetings for bathroom and smoke breaks.
We wrap up the day with a reflection group, called “Tenth Step.” Before beginning our reflection period, we first take the time to welcome new members to the patient community and congratulate members who are completing treatment, with a “Coin-Out” ceremony.
After this group is complete, patients are free to go to sleep if they so choose, or utilize the remaining free time before “Lights Out” at 11:00 PM. The patient community will also be provided with a night time snack after the completion of the day.
**Each day’s schedule may vary. This is especially the case during holidays and weekends, where times are adjusted to accommodate visiting hours, holiday festivities, and recreation periods. Every Saturday night, our staff adjusts the evening schedule to provide a “Pizza and Movie Night” for the patient community.**
